Tour of Long Beach Training Rides

So with the Tour of Long Beach charity ride, benefiting the John Jaques Cancer Foundation, quickly approaching I started to preview some training routes for folks to come out and join me and a host of others for some light training as we build up for the event on May 8th. You can come out on a beach cruiser, road bike, hybrid, BMX, fixie, or whatever you got with "2 wheels and a chain" hanging up in your garage. All families are welcome to join in on the training too since there's a 4-mile family fun ride that was included for them to join in on the bicycle friendly festivities.

I'll post the routes at the end of the week with the date, meeting point, start time, route, distance (roughly 15-20 miles), rest stop, and back to the starting point. My wife decided to join me this past weekend on my preview rides. Here are some photos we took of the great spots around Long Beach that we'll be including in our training rides and the Tour of Long Beach itself.

I also host a Wednesday night ride every week called the 'Cruzer Sessions' at the Douglas Park development in Long Beach. It starts at 6:30pm and all riders and abilities are welcome. We have a DJ out and a taco truck that comes out too, so come and join us. We meet one block west of the intersection of Lakewood Blvd and E. Connant in Long Beach just North of the Long Beach Airport. There's great lighting, but we recommend you you come out with lights on you bike.

Stay tuned for more ride info and ride safe....ciao,
