On Saturday October, 24th I helped hand out close to 300 backpacks full of school supplies, school uniforms, and sweatshirts donated by the gracious folks from Operation School Bell at the Assistance League of Long Beach. The day was filled with music, good times, and a lot of grateful parents and students. The wide eyed kids were amazed at the variety of backpacks and supplies. Some of the parents had difficulty expressing their gratitude towards the donations. Councilwoman Suja Lowenthal and Councilman Gary Delong joined in the festivities as special guests showing their support for one of their neighborhood schools.
As I walked through the halls of the school on Monday afternoon, the students proudly displayed their new attire and backpacks. It was an honor working with operation school bell and all of their volunteers. I’d also like to extend a special thank you to the Molina Foundation for donating a book to every child. If you ever want to make a difference in a student’s life, I highly recommend signing your school up for this program. I also recommend taking a trip over to the Assistance League of Long Beach to see all the great programs they offer to the community and families of Long Beach.
Sincerely,
